Getting to Building 71

The workshop will be held on the Berkeley Lab main site,in the Building 71 Ghiorso Conference Room (Building 71, Room 264). .

The Berkeley Lab Guest House is on the LBNL site. Building 71, site of the Workshop, is a short (0.3 mile/0.5 km), slightly uphill walk from the Guest House. This interactive map lets you orient yourself to to the site layout.

At left is a screen shot from the interactive map. The Guest House is shown in red near the bottom (at far bottom left is the Cafeteria) and Building 71 is highlighted at top right. Also shown are the most relevant LBNL shuttle bus stops, both on the Blue Route loop: Building 46 on the Blue Uphill route brings you the closest to Building 71, and Cafeteria/Guest House on the Blue Downhill.

LBNL Shuttle Buses Serving the Downtown and Campus Area

Parking at LBNL is very limited (those staying at the Guest House will find parking spaces near it). Especially if you are staying offsite, consider taking BART or other public transit from the airport and then the LBNL shuttle bus to the meeting venue. Here you can find general information and the routes and schedules for the LBNL shuttle buses.

These shuttle buses are free to IDSM01 attendees (bring your invitation letter and identification).

LBNL shuttle arrivals can be estimated with NextBus by putting in your route and stop (the pre-fill here is for the stop nearest to BART of the Blue route, headed uphill toward the Lab).

The Blue Route shuttle connects downtown-area hotels and the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) train station with the Laboratory.

The Orange Route serves Bancroft Avenue (especially of interest to those staying at the Bancroft Hotel or the Claremont) and enters the Lab through the Strawberry Canyon gate. You can transfer from it to a Blue Route shuttle at the “Bus stop for Berkeley BART” stop.

Thank you for your interest in the Workshop. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip and look forward to seeing you in April!
